Big trout on the prowl, reds in the shallows.

I took a couple of regulars out yesterday morning. Headed to Warren Bayou catching a bunch of 14 inch fish. There are some good fish in there as this photo shows. {%image_id=14185%} The north wind laid with the tide bringing enough water for us to hit a shallow water redfish hole that produces year after year today was no disappointment with Kieth hooking and landing his first red ever. Beats the crap out catching bass, right Keith? {%image_id=14184%} If the north wind will lay to allowing the water back into the bay I will be able to get into some of my shallow spots for reds. Spring is definitely just around the corner. One of my clients saw something on the internet and asked me why I don't fish on the gulf side more for reds. The answer is simple: I do sometimes but the catch percentage out there is low. Visability, wind and sea's can make for a miserable day looking for reds on the gulf side. The hook/catch ration for my clients with reds is well over 90 percent as is evident by my non stop posting, day after day all spring, summer and fall of people catching reds. We catch them in the bay in 30 or 40 different places. If you want to catch reds I do not believe there is anyone in the area guiding more consistent than I.
