Jacksonville tailing redfish

Northeast Florida experiences higher than normal tides from late August to December. Tropical storm Fay has also added an extra push to the already high water. From St Augustine northward to Fernandina there are miles and miles of marsh grass flats that are covered with water enabling Redfish and Sheepshead to gorge on marsh crabs and fiddlers. Last Sunday I went 5 for 5 of tailing redfish, and saw over 20 nice fish on one small 50 yard flat. This kind of fishing is 100% sight casting which makes every fish that you catch a memory that will last forever. Tides of 5.4 or higher (Mayport station) are needed. Darker soft plastics such as Berkley camo tubes or Exude crabs will produce. Top water fishing has been great mainly for Speckled trout in the mornings and evenings around Ft George and Downtown Jacksonville. {%image_id=6040%}
