TARPON ANYONE? Fishing report of April and May It's that time of year. Welcome to tarpon season. I just loved it out here. I always get jacked up in April, May and June. With me, it's real early in the morning. 4:30am or leave at 5pm till 1:00 am. Most of the time we get a fish to the boat if we fish within this time frame. On a half-day charter its 50/50 and on a three-quarter day its 70/30. Your best chances are on a split. Do both. Early is still the best. If no one has ever told you, most tarpon are night feeders. So hmm? No 8 to 5. I fish Key West and Panama. I am in Key West till late September. So, if it is tarpon you want, bring a video camera and brace yourself. You won't forget fishing Key West with me on my Maverick. I am a believer in live bait. Pinfish and pilchards. Tarpon, like many other fish, do not have plastic as part of their diet(normally). My primary line is Power Pro 40 with a heavy mono leader and circle hooks. Tarpon fishing should be sight casting which gets easier as the sun is coming up. What a beautiful combination! Sunrise in Key West harbor with silver kings rolling everywhere No one and I mean no one fishes as early or around more perfect tides. It is all about water temp and tides. And, if the tide is slack, why are we fishing? I am usually on my way back to the dock by then. Call me and you will hear tarpon on my voice. No excuses just results. I am on the boat a lot this time of year so call me at 305-3041805. I offer a VIP guide service. We get it done. Take care Capt Paul (Panama Paul)
