Fish on!!! What a change in more than just the weather. The fishing has changed big time there are a lot of fish moving out of the rivers this time of the year. We have days where they don’t want to eat right away. But over all I must say we have had some of the best fishing that I have seen in a long time. It’s getting to be the time of the year where you better book those trips now. We will start with the Snook fish this has had it’s days where it has been a little slower but it is fixing to break loose. I do not remember the last time I saw so many nice fish well I didn’t look back but I probably said the same thing last year. But there is a lot of nice fish! We have had some very good days where we have caught some good numbers of fish. Most of the fishing that we have been doing has been in and around the mouths of the rivers. These fish are moving their way to the bays and are very hungry when they are doing so. The biggest factor that we have had has been the water temp if it is much below 70 degrees the fish don’t want to bite very good. Some of the days you might have to look around a little for that warmer water so you can get the big one to bite. If we have had any trouble catching Snook we have made up for it with the Red fish. There are some very big fish starting to show up with this warmer weather. Sometimes it is a little tough to get to them without poling a long way and being very quiet. I think this has been one of the biggest problems with the Red fish they have been fished for a lot over the past few years during the Red fish tournaments. One hundred or more boats fishing in the same area make the fish spook a little easier. But we have had no trouble catching a few fish each trip just sometimes working a little harder at it. I can give you a little advise be as quiet as you can when positioning your boat to catch the big one. We had some great Red fish last week as you can see in the picture. Trout have been doing a whole lot of moving around. One day you will catch a mess of them and the next day they are gone. But I can say this much the Trout that we have been catching have had some good size. This time of the year most of the Trout that we catch are around the areas where you find the bait in the bay. You aren’t going to believe the next thing, the Tarpon have shown up in the bay. I wouldn’t believe it if I did see it myself. We managed to get out and do a little Tarpon fishing the other morning with a lot of success. We managed to hook the first fish within seconds of throwing the first bait out and were able to boat this great fish. It was a fish that was about 80 lbs. It was a very nice fish and we did manage to hook a few more fish that were much bigger. Come visit www.castawaychartersinc.com for pictures.
